Inferring

Hello everyone, this term for reading we have been working on inferring when we read.

INFERRING

What is inferring?

Inferring is being able to read between the lines. When the story may not say something your looking for but by looking at the rest of the text and look for clues and your prior knowledge to answer your question.

For Example:

In the last text I read the text said "the colours in the bunker where muted" i know by inferring and using my prior knowledge that the bunker was dark and faded with no sun light getting in. another one is

If your text says Sarah likes likes fruit  especially berries and if you want to know if Sarah likes strawberry but the as you know the text doesn't say that but by inferring you know that Sarah likes fruit and that especially berries so we know with our prior knowledge that Sarah does like strawberries.

So by looking at the text and using our prior knowledge that is what inferring is.
