Discussion:

How do you taste food? our taste buds pick up clues about how a food tastes and sends messages about it to your brain along with wires called nerves. To taste something properly, you need to chew food into small pieces and to have a lot of drool, or saliva. This help the flavour molecules (also known as “tastants”) reach your taste buds.

What are the different tastes? Sweet, sour, bitter, salty and a new one savoury

does smell affect your taste? Our sense of smell in responsible for about 90% of what we taste. Without our sense of smell, our sense of taste is limited to only five distinct sensations: sweet, salty, sour, bitter and the newly discovered “umami” or savory sensation. All other flavours that we experience come from smell.
